In order to help your students create a story, it is valuable for you to have experience with the tools they might use. This practical experience will give you an opportunity to identify areas that students may need additional scaffolding for.
Directions
Access the WeVideo tutorial (if you are unfamiliar with this tool). Pay close attention to:
How to create a video
Built-in library of images and sounds
Trimming clips
Importing media
Finishing the video
There is also a help section at the top right of WeVideo.
Reflect/Put Into Practice
Share your video (as instructed by your facilitator).
Discuss:
What skills might students need to develop in order to be successful with digital storytelling?
How might you support the use of WeVideo with your students?
What content area in your interdisciplinary team might take on the parts or the whole of digital storytelling?
